Trash Origami: 25 Paper Folding Projects Reusing Everyday Materials: Origami Book with 25 Fun Projects and Instructional DVD Details

Review "A fun, instructive guide showing how to turn trash into origami." Architectural Record"Save the Earth while maintaining your creativity. We all know how much garbage we throw out every day, whether we actually throw it in the trash or recycle it. Well, now you can keep that garbage and get crafty with it! Trash Origami is the coolest book I've seen lately. Don't throw it out—fold it up!" —Christine Weiher, Editor, FaveCrafts.com"This book helps answer the question: what can I fold from this interesting scrap of paper?" Gilad's Origami Page"In this colorfully illustrated book using heavyweight glossy sheets, 25 different origami productions are clearly explained, diagrammed, and photographed. While the patterns presented are cleverly attractive, the novelty exploited in this volume is the use of recyclable raw materials in place of the traditional origami paper." Sacramento Book Review"In a fun twist on an ancient art, the authors present a selection of paper-folding projects that use old envelopes, potato chip bags, and even magazine subscription cards instead of the usual origami paper. The "curler unit ball" project is a standout; it is a truly gorgeous, complex creation." Publishers Weekly"If you are looking for something artsy to do with recycled materials, check out Trash Origami: 25 Paper Folding Projects Reusing Everyday Materials." Growing Book by Book blog Read more About the Author Michael G. LaFosse decided he would be an origami artist in 1971, after reading (and rereading) a Readers' Digest article by Leland Stowe, about the amazing folded art of Japanese Master Akira Yoshizawa. An avid teacher, LaFosse co-founded the Origamido Studio, a learning center and design studio dedicated to the art of origami, and the only place in the world specializing in hand papermaking for the origami artist. A biologist by training, LaFosse is one of the most celebrated natural history origami artists. He has spent decades studying plants and animals and re-creating them in detailed folded paper projects. He has also created hundreds of designs now seen in exceptional exhibitions, and published in dozens of books, kits, and videos. Richard L. Alexander met LaFosse in 1988, and together they have produced exhibitions and publications about paper art and origami. Alexander has worked with LaFosse full time since 2003, and since then has made all of the Origamido handmade paper. Alexander also teaches and designs origami, while being responsible for photography, videography, commercial projects, and managing the Origamido Studio gallery spaces and exhibitions. Read more

Reviews

This is a fun book to read and lots of cool projects to try out. I like the thought of Trash origami because it has to do with recycled items that are flat. It's also great to keep those old cards that you didn't want to toss, instead make something out of it and hang it. Clear the clutter and make something beautiful out of it.
